Every child deserves a new beginning. You can make that happen.
Behind every project on this page is a real story. A child who dreams of building their own future. A family that can be whole again. A community learning how to care for its children.
Mwanzo makes those stories possible — together with you. Every euro you give goes directly to The Ark Children's Home in Kenya. No overhead, no intermediaries. Your contribution arrives today, exactly where it is needed most.
Choose the project that moves you. Or support The Ark in general. Everything helps — and everything counts.

Support The Ark or Mwanzo in general
Would you like to support The Ark or Mwanzo in general? That would be wonderful, of course—either as a one-time donation or on a monthly basis.
Support The Ark — and give every child a home
The Ark is there for children who have nowhere else to go. You can help keep that door open.
The story
In Ngoliba, an hour's drive from Nairobi, there is a place that makes the difference between a future and no future for dozens of children. The Ark Children's Home takes in children who have been abandoned, orphaned or are in crisis. Caroline Gichuhi and her team work around the clock to keep these children safe, in school, healthy — and, whenever possible, on the path back to their families.
That costs money. Every single day. Food, clean water, school fees, medical care, staff salaries, building maintenance. These are not large amounts per child — but they are fixed, recurring costs that require certainty.
A contribution to The Ark's general fund gives Caroline and her team exactly that certainty. Not earmarked money for one specific project, but a solid foundation on which The Ark can build every day.

Support Mwanzo — and make our work possible
We exist so that The Ark can exist. Support us, and you support every child in Ngoliba.
Why support Mwanzo?
Mwanzo is the link between you and The Ark. We make sure donations arrive, that spending is monitored, that working visits take place, and that new projects are developed. That takes time — and a small amount of money.
We are very transparent about this: project donations go 100% to The Ark. But Mwanzo itself also has costs. The website, administration, banking fees, travel costs for working visits to Kenya. These are currently covered entirely by the founders themselves — out of their own pockets, out of love for the work.
But that is not sustainable indefinitely. If Mwanzo is to keep growing — more donors, more projects, more impact — the foundation itself also needs a stable base.
What does your contribution to Mwanzo do?
A contribution to Mwanzo goes towards the foundation's operational costs: website and communications, administration and annual reports, banking and payment processing fees.
No salaries. No office. No overhead in the traditional sense. No travel costs for visits. Just the costs needed to do the work properly.
One-off or monthly?
Again, monthly is most valuable. A fixed contribution of €5 or €10 per month means we can plan ahead and not improvise every time.
💶 €5 per month → covers part of the website costs
💶 €10 per month → covers banking and administration

Your donation — what you need to know
Stichting Mwanzo is a Dutch foundation with ANBI status — the Dutch government's official recognition as a public benefit organisation. This means your donation goes directly to The Ark Children's Home, with full financial accountability and transparency.
Are donations tax-deductible for non-Dutch donors?
If you are based in the Netherlands, your gift may be tax-deductible — see the Dutch version of this page for details. If you are based outside the Netherlands, the Dutch tax benefit does not automatically apply to you.
Whether your donation is deductible depends on the tax rules in your own country:
United Kingdom — Gift Aid applies only to donations made to HMRC-registered charities. Stichting Mwanzo is not currently registered in the UK, so Gift Aid cannot be claimed directly. However, UK donors can give via the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), which can facilitate tax-efficient international giving. Get in touch and we can explore this together.
United States — Donations to foreign organisations are generally not deductible for US federal tax purposes unless made through a qualifying US-based intermediary such as CAF America. We are not yet set up for this, but if you are a US donor and this matters to you, please contact us — we would love to find a solution.
Other countries — Many countries have their own frameworks for charitable giving. If you are unsure whether your donation qualifies for tax relief in your country, we recommend checking with a local tax adviser.
Whatever your tax situation: 100% of your donation reaches The Ark. No overhead is deducted by Mwanzo. Mwanzo's own operational costs are covered by its founders personally.
